Eligibility criteria

  • Healthy and willing to abide by the Chinese laws and decrees
  • Education and age requirements as follows: (1). Master’s programs: holding a Bachelor’s degree and under the age of 35; (2). Doctoral programs: holding a Master’s degree and under the age of 40; (3). Visiting Scholar: having at least two years of undergraduate studies and under the age of 35; (4) Senior Visiting Scholar: holding Master’s or higher degree or academic titles of associate professor or higher, and under the age of 40.
  • English and/or Chinese proficiency is required.

Scholarship benefit

The Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) 

Applicants who apply for the Chinese Government Scholarships are required to apply to GSCAAS or directly apply to the Chinese Embassy or qualified agency in their country. Please refer to the website of www.csc.edu.cn for more details about the Scholarship.

(1). A fee waiver of registration, tuition, laboratory experiments, internship, and basic textbooks. Cost of experiments or internships beyond the program curriculum is at student’s own expense. Cost of books or learning materials other than required basic textbooks is at student’s own expense.

(2). Free on-campus dormitory accommodation.

(3). Living allowance (per month):

Master’s students & general scholars: 3,000 RMB;

Doctoral students & senior scholars: 3,500 RMB.

(4). Fee for Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China.

The Graduate School of CAAS Scholarship (GSCAASS).

GSCAASS is established by GSCAAS to sponsor international students and scholars with outstanding academic performance to pursue higher education in CAAS.Those who have received scholarships from Chinese government or Beijing government are not eligible for the scholarship.

(1). A fee waiver of registration, tuition, laboratory experiments, internship, and basic textbooks. Cost of experiments or internships beyond the program curriculum is at student’s own expense. Cost of books or learning materials other than required basic textbooks is at student’s own expense.

(2). Free on-campus dormitory accommodation(supported by host supervisor).

(3). Research Assistantship (per month, supported by host supervisor):

Master’s students & general scholars: 3,000 RMB;

Doctoral students & senior scholars: 3,500 RMB.

(4). Fee for Comprehensive Medical Insurance provided by GSCAAS.

The Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS).

BGS is established by Beijing Government to sponsor international students and scholars with outstanding academic performance to pursue higher degree in Beijing. The winners of BGS are exempt from tuition for the specific academic year. GSCAAS Supervisor will provide research assistant fellowship and accommodation fee of on-campus dormitory for the international student. Those who have received CGS and GSCAASS are not eligible for BGS.

Other Scholarships

GSCAAS welcomes international students/scholars supported by international organization, foreign governments, research institutions, universities and organizations, to pursue higher degree in GSCAAS.

How to Apply

Please submit the following materials in one packageboth in soft copy and hard copy, incomplete or unqualified applications will not be processed.

  • Application Form for Study in CAAS ( Download the attachment);
  • Photocopy of passport (at least 2 years validity) personal information page;
  • Highest diploma (notarized photocopy);
  • Academic transcripts of the most advanced studies (notarized photocopy);
  • Two reference letters from two Professors or experts with equal titles in related fields;
  • CV and  research proposal (no less than 400 words for visiting scholars, no less than 500 words for postgraduates);
  • Photocopies of degree thesis abstract(Full paper needed if it is written in English) and representative academic papers
  • Verification of current employer or working unit(NOC letter);
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form(Please take health examination in the hospitals designated by the Chinese Embassy);
  • Acceptance letter. Applicants with acceptance letter from CAAS professors are preferred.
